NASA's Bennu Asteroid Sample Now on Public Display

NASA's first-ever sample from asteroid Bennu is now on public display at the National Museum of Natural History. The fragment was collected by the OSIRIS-REx probe during a 2020 mission to the asteroid. Although there are challenges in opening the sample's lid, scientists have already accessed some material, including "black dust and debris." Bennu, classified as a potentially hazardous asteroid, has a slight chance of impacting Earth in the future, making it crucial to study such objects. The data gathered could also aid in missions to deflect potential threats from space rocks like Bennu.
